Pursuant to Section 464(2) of the Local Government Act, the Regional District of Nanaimo Board of Directors having reviewed "Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Amendment Bylaw No. 500.409, 2017" (Bylaw 500.409) and finding it to be consistent with the policies outlined in "Regional District of Nanaimo East Wellington Pleasant Valley Official Community Plan No. 1055, 1997" has waived the Public Hearing and directed that notification proceed in accordance with Section 467 of The Local Government Act. Bylaw 500.409 received first and second reading at the May 23, 2017 Board meeting. The Regional District of Nanaimo is providing notice of its intent to consider third reading of Bylaw 500.409 at its regular Board meeting to be held at 7:00 pm on June 27, 2017, in the Board Chambers located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo.

What is the Zoning Amendment about?

The applicant proposes to rezone the property from Rural 1 (RU1) Zone, Subdivision District 'D', to RU1 Zone, Subdivision District 'F', to reduce the minimum parcel size from 2.0 hectares to 1.0 hectare to allow the subdivision of the subject property into two lots. The subject property is located at 2720 Benson View Road in Electoral Area 'C' and is legally known as Lot 2, Sections 9 and 10, Ranges 4 and 5, Mountain District, Plan 35684.

A copy of the Amendment Bylaw, the Board resolution waiving the Public Hearing, and other relevant documents may be inspected during regular business hours prior to the Board meeting at the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) office at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with extended hours on Wednesdays 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, excluding statutory holidays.
