Cedar Main Street Design Project

Welcome to the Cedar Main Street Design Project Website. Here you will find a variety of information on the Cedar Main Street Plan project. Click here to view the Plan. This project is now complete and the RDN will be considering implementation actions resulting from the plan.

Background

During the Electoral Area 'A' Official Community Plan (OCP) review, the community expressed a desire to support community diversity, create and preserve community identity and a sense of place, and provide opportunities for local employment, services, and a range of housing types and sizes. The OCP now includes the Cedar Main Street Village Plan to provide direction and policies that reflect how the residents of Electoral Area 'A' wish to see the Cedar Main Street Village area change and grow over time.

Based on the results of a Community Design Charrette held in 2012, the plan includes design ideas and land use concepts together with policies, development permit area guidelines, and implementation actions to detail desirable changes and improvement within Cedar Main Street. The plan was adopted by the Regional District of Nanaimo Board on September 24, 2013.
