Scrutineers for Assent Voting
Qualified electors in Electoral Areas 'E' and 'H' can apply to act as scrutineers for assent voting in the 2014 RDN General Local Elections. The volunteer positions are available for the following proceedings: voting places for Electoral Areas 'E' and 'H' on General Voting Day, November 15; advance voting places for Electoral Areas 'E' and 'H' on November 5 and November 12; the determination of official results; and for a judicial recount (if necessary). A maximum of two scrutineers - one in favour of, and one opposed to, the question will be appointed for each proceeding.Information and Application Forms
Nanoose Bay Peninsula Water Service Area Capital Improvements Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 1714 - Assent Voting
Electors within the Nanoose Bay Peninsula Water Service Area (portion of Electoral Area 'E') will be voting on the following question:"Are you in favour of the Regional District of Nanaimo adopting Bylaw No. 1714 to authorize the borrowing of up to $2.6 million to provide the necessary funds to meet the Nanoose Bay Peninsula Water Service Area capital improvement and upgrades requirements up to and including 2019?"
Northern Community Marine Search and Rescue Contribution Service - Assent Voting
Electors within Electoral Area 'H' of the Regional District of Nanaimo will be voting on the following question:"Are you in favour of the Regional District of Nanaimo adopting Bylaw No. 1706 to provide for the following:
- establishing the "Northern Community Marine Search and Rescue Contribution Service" within Electoral Area 'H' to provide for a contribution to societies providing marine search and rescue in Electoral Area 'H'; and
- annually requisitioning up to a maximum of the greater of $5,000 or $0.006/$1000 of taxable assessed value to pay for the service?"
Applications to act as a scrutineer will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person at the office of the Regional District of Nanaimo located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC V9T 6N2 between 9:00 am, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 and 4:00 pm, Friday, October 10, 2014. Applications will be received during regular office days and hours during this period: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; and Wednesday from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, excluding statutory holidays.
