Residents Encouraged to Sign Up for the RDN's New
Emergency Notification System
This week, to coincide with Emergency Preparedness Week 2017, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is launching a new Emergency Notification System. RDN staff will be out in communities May 8-14th during Emergency Preparedness Week to help residents and visitors sign up. Look for RDN staff at community markets and events throughout the summer or sign up online at rdnemergency.connectrocket.com.
"Fast, effective notification is an essential part of emergency response," said RDN Chair Bill Veenhof. "With RDN Emergency Notifications, we provide the message directly to individuals on their phones, so they can be in a position to respond right away."
RDN Emergency Notifications are intended to inform residents and visitors alike about emergency incidents that could impact them, such as flooding, fires, and storms. The system will send both text messages and voice calls during emergency incidents in the RDN.
