Launch of Community Plan Review for Electoral Area H
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is launching a review of the Official Community Plan for Electoral Area H. The current plan was adopted in 2004 and the area has experienced many changes since that time. The review process will engage residents and examine any changes that could be made to help achieve a unified community vision going forward."A lot has changed in the past 11 years so this is a great opportunity to hear directly from residents about the topics and issues that are important to them today," said Bill Veenhof, RDN Chairperson and Electoral Area H Director. "I look forward to hearing what residents have to say and working together toward a vibrant future for our area."
The project will involve a series of community meetings and smaller working group sessions on identified topic areas. Residents are invited to attend the project kick off event Wednesday, February 3rd from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at the Lighthouse Community Hall, 240 Lions Way in Qualicum Bay. Presentations and a structured community discussion will begin at 7:00 pm.
Starting February 2nd, an RDN planner will also be holding office hours every Tuesday from 9:15 am to 12:00 pm upstairs at Magnolia Court, 6996 Island Highway West in Bowser.
Prior to the first community meeting, the public is invited to complete an online survey designed to gather preliminary input. Visit www.rdn.bc.ca/areahocp to complete the survey and to learn more about the project. Paper copies of the survey are available through the contact information below.
