Bob Tait, Citizens on Patrol, re Gaming Commission Funding.
Mr. Tait provided an overview of the Citizens on Patrol and asked for the Board�s support for their independent organization. This will aid in the continuation of their licensing with the Gaming Commission which allows the organization to procure funding through bingo games.

Sargeant Moffatt advised the Committee of the great assistance the Citizens on Patrol have given to the RCMP as the eyes and ears of the community and also urged the Committee to offer their support for this worthwhile organization.
Barry Lee, Citizens on Patrol, re Gaming Commission Funding.
Mr. Lee reiterated the words of Mr. Tait and Staff Sargeant Moffatt and clarified the Gaming Commission�s concerns with future funding for the Citizens on Patrol.

Mr. Van Eynde declined to speak at this time.
Richard Boyce, re Little Qualicum River Park/Trail Proposal.
Mr. Boyce presented a video of the proposed Little Qualicum River Park/Trail area and provided a commentary on the need to protect this area for future generations.
Ross Harvey, re San Pareil Boardwalk Initiative.
Mr. Harvey spoke in opposition of the proposed San Pareil Boardwalk initiative, noting the possible interruption to the feeding areas of many wild birds in the immediate area of the boardwalk.
Pat Fraser, re San Pareil Boardwalk Initiative.
Mr. Fraser spoke in opposition of the proposed boardwalk initiative and provided correspondence from Ministry of Environment and Fisheries and Oceans to the Committee. Mr. Fraser requested that copies of this correspondence be circulated to the Committee members for their information.

Ms. Tanner provided a short overview and update with regard to the Little Qualicum River Park/Trail proposal and circulated written information on District Lot 10 for the Committee�s perusal.
Lorne Nisbet, Shorewood San Pareil Owners and Residents Association, re San Pareil Boardwalk Initiative.
Mr. Nisbet noted that the construction of the proposed boardwalk is to be fully funded by the local residents and other community supporters, and that this group would like to initiate construction of the proposed boardwalk in December as advised by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Mr. Nisbet urged the Board to support this partnership agreement with the Ministry of Environment.

MOVED Director Rispin, SECONDED Director McLean, that staff be directed to pursue a co-management agreement with SSPORA, Ministry of Environment Lands and Parks, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada to coordinate the design, construction and maintenance of the San Pareil boardwalk under the Area �G� Community Parks function.

1. That the Regional District, in response to the park proposal advanced for the river valley area within and adjacent to the Town of Qualicum Beach, reference the general recognition outlined in the Park System Plan for the environmental importance of the Little Qualicum River corridor.
3. That the Regional District urge the forest company to respect the environmental importance of the river corridor and to comply with all regulatory requirements in its use of the property.
